Re-designed in cast aluminium
A public European mail company had through national providers developed a new mailbox for nationwide letter collection. During the R&D process, an investment in permanent moulds had been made but still several additional parts was made from bended sheet-metal parts, which additionally were mounted onto the aluminium mailbox front.
In an EU tender, the winning company, choose Compfitt Group to improve and simplify the component design.
The initial solution consisted of a permanent moulded front part plus 7 sheet-metal parts. After re-design it consisted of only die cast components including assembly screws and a complete hinge function.
